THE 'BOARD OF DIRECTORS'
THAT LIVE IN OUR HEAD, DIAGNOSTIC

Have you ever wondered why, when information is presented to a group of people,
that there are often different and sometimes significant polarized opinions?

NOT EVERYONE SEES DATA, PEOPLE AND SITUATIONS IN THE SAME WAY

WHY IS THIS?

Our mind is very powerful and it can convince us of something that isn’t necessarily true. Aaron Beck, in 1972, first proposed this theory, and named them our ‘cognitive distortions’. To understand the impact that these thinking patterns have in our mind on how we make decisions, and build relationships, we first need to diagnose our most prevalent thinking styles.

Behavioural psychotherapist Matthew Cooksey, and Georgia Murch, have identified the most prevalent thinking styles down to the top 10. We call them the ‘Board of Directors’ (BODs) that live in your head.

This simple diagnostic will provide a start to becoming more self aware of your own BODs. It will take approximately 30 minutes, give or take.

BEFORE YOU START

Think about some of the closest relationships you have. Those who know you the best… warts and all. Answer the following 60 questions as if they are answering on your behalf. Most people find it very difficult to be self critical and sincerely honest. Without this critical eye, your self-assessment is likely to be your own perspective only.

Your first answer, based on your gut feel is likely to be the correct one. Answer the questions as quickly as you can in this context.  You will then receive a description of the most prevalent Board of Directors that sit in your head.

Have fun!
