There’s so much advice out there now to ‘be your best’ and make the most of this situation. And it comes from a great place. But let’s be honest. If you’re working you are likely working harder than ever. If you’re not, it’s a game to keep your motivation up.
Everyone is going through something.
It can be a pretty crazy time in those heads of ours. We are hitting all levels of ‘stages’ as the pandemic continues. Trying to keep yourself in a healthy mental and physical space is work. So what about instead of a focus on what YOU need to do to stay sane and well – you shift the focus to what others around you need. It’s bigger than a distraction. It’s an essential need if you want to find your happy.
If we are all about ourselves then the whole purpose of this crazy thing called life will never be fulfilled. Connection. Creating interdependence where we are all better – because of each other, is a pretty cool place to be.
Seth Godin, author and business expert, would tell us to ‘figure out what people need and bring it to them’. That’s smart business too.
Jay Shetty, the most listened to podcaster in the world right now says; ‘Do something for nothing for someone else’. That’s how we build relationships and grow.
I’m not saying we need to forfeit our own desires. I’m just saying – try an external focus and see if that works as well. I reckon it will.
